Boston Takes Game 1 of Eastern Conference Semifinals
Celtics Power Past Cavaliers 120-113
BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston Celtics made a statement in their Eastern Conference semifinal opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night, dominating the Cavs 120-113 at TD Garden.
Jaylen Brown led the charge for Boston with 32 points, while Derrick White added 25 points, including seven three-pointers. Jayson Tatum also contributed 19 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
The Celtics took control of the game early, jumping out to a 31-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. They continued to extend their advantage throughout the game, leading by as many as 21 points in the second half.
The Cavaliers made a late run in the fourth quarter, cutting the Celtics' lead to just six points with less than four minutes remaining. However, Boston was able to hold on for the win, thanks to clutch free throws from Brown and White.
The Celtics' victory gives them a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday night in Boston.
