Stevenson Stripped of Titles After Missing Weight
Conceicao Set to Win Titles if He Defeats Stevenson
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Shakur Stevenson has been stripped of his junior lightweight titles after failing to make weight for his fight against Oscar Valdez on Saturday night.
Stevenson weighed in at 131.6 pounds, half a pound over the 131-pound limit. Valdez weighed in at 130.8 pounds.
The Nevada Athletic Commission ruled that Stevenson would be stripped of his WBO, WBC and WBA titles. Conceicao will now have the opportunity to win the vacant titles if he can defeat Stevenson.
