Laurie Hernandez: American Artistic Gymnast
Early Life and Career
Lauren Zoe Hernandez was born on June 9, 2000, in Old Bridge, New Jersey. She began gymnastics at the age of five and quickly showed promise as an artistic gymnast. Hernandez competed in her first major international competition, the 2015 World Championships, where she helped the U.S. team win gold in the team competition and placed fifth in the individual all-around.
Olympic Success
In 2016, Hernandez made her Olympic debut at the Rio Olympics. She was a member of the U.S. team that won the gold medal in the team competition, and she also won an individual silver medal on the balance beam. Hernandez's performance at the Olympics made her a national icon and inspired many young gymnasts.
Retirement and Beyond
